TimberLay International Travel Scholarship 2008

Regulations

1. Purpose and Value of Scholarship

a) The Kendall National Violin Competition will offer the opportunity to a finalist of the 2007 National Competition to apply for the TimberLay International Travel Scholarship offered through the generosity of Australian Solar Timbers.

b) The scholarship has a total value of up to $4,000 and will be offered to one applicant who plans to travel overseas in order to study or perform.

c) The scholarship is offered for expenses such as tuition, airfares, accommodation and living expenses incurred internationally only.

2. Application

a) Finalists of the 2008 Kendall National Violin Competition who wish to be considered for the TimberLay International Travel Scholarship need to outline their proposed project including reasons for travel, length of stay, activities to be undertaken and estimated expenses on the relevant application form.

b) The deadline for application for the 2008 TimberLay International Travel Scholarship is 18 August 2008.

3. Award of Scholarship

a) The Scholarship is administered by a Scholarship Administrator appointed by Australian Solar Timbers.

b) All decisions of the Scholarship Administrator on the award of the scholarship, eligibility of study and performance projects, reimbursement of allowances and payments of scholarship moneys are final and not subject to appeal.

c) The scholarship will be awarded to the winner of the Kendall National Violin Competition provided his/her project is deemed appropriate. In cases were the winner of the competition has not applied for the scholarship or the project is not deemed appropriate, the judges of the competition may recommend another finalist to receive the scholarship in lieu of the competition winner.

d) In order for projects to be deemed appropriate these must be realistically planned, demonstrate significant benefit to the artistic development of the applicant and be completed within 24 months of the award of the scholarship.

e) The recipient of the TimberLay International Travel Scholarship may make significant alterations to the original project only with the approval of the scholarship administrator.

4. Payment of Scholarship funds

a).. Scholarship recipients can receive up to $ 2000 of the scholarship by presenting accounts/receipts in conformity with the approved proposal in advance of their travel.

b) The balance of the scholarship is payable after the project has been completed.

c) Scholarship holders must present a brief written summary of their project and its benefits as well as substantiation of expenses if requested before the balance of scholarship is paid.

5. No appeals

a) All decisions of the Scholarship Administrator, Australian Solar Timbers and the Kendall National Violin Competition in relation to the TimberLay International Travel Scholarship are final and not subject to appeal.
