The
Competition for 2008
The 10th Kendall National Violin Competition
will be held in July/ August 2008. The competition invites young
violinists who are citizens or residents of Australia to compete
for the prize of a concert violin made from Australian timbers by
renowned Australian luthier Graham Caldersmith.
Following the great European violin
making tradition in his design and conception of sound, Graham’s
Australian wood instruments are considered serious and uniquely
Australian alternatives to high quality European concert instruments.
In addition to the Caldersmith violin, the winner of the Kendall
National Violin Competition will be offered a recital tour in regional
NSW in 2008/09.
The Competition will also award
cash prizes of $500: for the Best Performance of an Australian Composition
sponsored by Kendall Services and Citizens Club; for the Audience
Choice award sponsored by Donovan Oates Hannaford Mortgage Corporation
Ltd. and the Gil Appleton Award for the Best Performance of Bach.
