The
Competition for 2010
The Kendall National Violin Competition, now in its second decade, has established itself as a major event for young violinists in Australia. Past finalists and winners of the Competition have forged impressive international careers and the Competition is proud to have helped these talented artists on their way.
The Competition invites young violinists to compete for the prize of a concert violin made from Australian timbers by renowned Australian luthier, Graham Caldersmith. Graham’s instruments have outstanding tonal qualities and his workmanship is superb.
In addition to the violin awarded as a first prize, the Competition offers a number of cash prizes generously sponsored by the Family of the late Dr Peter Lee, Kendall Services and Citizens Club, the late Reba Chappell`s Great-grandchildren`s Trust and Ms Gillian Appleton. The subsequent recital in Kendall, one of a number of performance engagements in regional NSW, is sponsored by the Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.
The TimberLay International Travel Scholarship which is associated with the Competition affords a generous opportunity for a winner or finalist to further their studies internationally.
